Phil Markham, CMHC

About

Phil is bilingual speaking both Spanish and English. He believes that healing begins with hope. His approach to therapy is collaborative and grounded in the belief that people have both agency and responsibility in shaping the lives they want to live.

Phil brings compassion and honesty to his work, helping clients look clearly at their lives without shame getting in the way. Rather than focusing on uncovering a hidden or “true” self, he helps clients consider who they are becoming and how their values can guide meaningful change.

He believes that a good life is built through the values we choose and the ways we practice them. Self-compassion and grace toward others are often important parts of that process, whether therapy is focused on individual or relational concerns. Phil also recognizes that we come to understand ourselves through our relationships and that meaningful change often happens in connection with others.

In his work, Phil draws from meaning-focused therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), integrating these approaches into a practical, values-driven therapy tailored to each client.
